A sofa and lounge chairs are one of those things that can cost a bomb, but if you invest in the right one then it could last you for years. So how do you go about choosing a good one, and how do you determine what you should scrimp on and where you should splash out? Do you opt for a sofa bed, or will you just get a purpose sofa to keep the family happy when watching films and the tv?

When you are going to the shop, make sure that you take measurements before you choose anything. This is important not only for the size of the room, but of the door. If you can’t get it in then it’s not really a bargain! A lot of sofa shops will have on site designers who can put the dimensions of your room into a computer to work out the size of sofa you need, so do a rough drawing with measurements to make sure that you are armed with all the right information. It might even be worth taking a photo of the room so that you can remember the important details, and show the staff. They might have something that will sit the room that they wouldn’t have otherwise recommended. You can also make sure that the one you have fallen in love with will blend in with the decor and other furniture that you have already.

Sit on the sofa. It’s not just how it looks, but how comfortable it is and there is nothing worse than getting home and finding its not deep enough to cross your legs on and really get comfy when watching the TV. Make sure that it feels right otherwise people wont use it and you might have to get another one sooner than you think.
