Team of the Year Award shows the value of team work in delivering front-line healthcare

London, 16 November 2018 – Today, the winner of the “Team of the Year Award” at the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) Achievement Awards has been announced. The Conwy Care Home Multi-Professional Response received the award, sponsored by Secure I.T. Environments, for its work. The project sees NHS staff with expertise in a range of nursing and therapy disciplines work together to bring care services to the homes of people living throughout Conwy.

Nurse Practitioner Collette Hughes said on winning the award, “The project aims to provide equitable access to care for residents in care homes. The whole project is really about trying to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions, return people home from hospital quicker, and support care home staff in the work they do. More than anything though it’s about making sure people living in care homes are able to access the right care that they need. It’s a great honour, and really encouraging that our skills are recognised as helping the general public, while also supporting our colleagues in hospitals and in primary care.”

The annual awards celebrate the commitment, dedication and outstanding care demonstrated by doctors, nurses, medical professionals, support staff and volunteers across North Wales – over 17,000 staff members. All NHS staff across North Wales are invited to nominate colleagues who have delivered outstanding care, showed incredible compassion and gone above-and-beyond to make a difference in eleven different categories.

Jo-Anne Garvie, Commercial Director of award sponsor Secure I.T. Environments, said: “We were delighted to present the Conwy Care Home Multi-Professional Response with the Team of the Year award. Their work to help people access the care they need was a great example of how NHS services can share expertise and skills to improve a lot of people’s wellbeing.”
