I've been prescribed Klonopin as needed for 7 years. I take it once or twice a week. Klonopin is phenomenal for panic attacks. It is so wonderful that many people become physically dependent &/or addicted to it. Its relief lasts longer than Xanax & it is much smoother. It does not kick in as quickly as Xanax, but you can chew it or leave it under your tongue to kick in more quickly. Extreme self-discipline is strongly recommended when taking Klonopin or any other benzo. Klonopin should only be taken as a last resort to a panic attack. It is not supposed to be taken every day, & it is not supposed to be taken to escape every anxious situation.

I worried constantly about everything and had panic attacks, also could not shut my mind off to get to sleep. My doctor started me on a very small dose of Klonopin, and immediately it changed everything. I feel normal. I can sleep. No more panic attacks. I can think about my upcoming cancer operation without the fear I used to have. I can think and act rationally now without it having affected me or my personality at all. I don't feel tired or "druggy", I just feel more in control of my emotions and thoughts now. Some people have side affects, but I haven't experienced any at all. If you are having panic attacks, don't be afraid to let your doctor prescribe it for you. For me, it's been a wonderful drug that has allowed me to face life with more confidence and less upset.

I started on Klonopin in 1998 due to panic and anxiety in conjunction with celexa. Two months ago, the celexa stopped working and my dr. has increased my klonopin from 1.25 mg. per day to 2.5 mg. until a new AD can be found that is effective. Klonopin has been a great drug for me, a lifesaver. I usually take my medication before bed and enjoy the relaxed feeling. That said, the drug is NOT for those who do not truly need it. If you do need it (I am a busy executive), then you should take it and you might as well enjoy it.
