I was prescribed Klonopin after being on Xanax for 4 years (had been on it on and off for a total of 10 yrs) because it stopped working: no psychosomatic-- Xanax stopped working. Also, I was having horrible diarrhea;panic;depression especially the last 6th months. So I told my doc I had enough. When I stopped I did go through withdrawals (it was terrible!!) like for days but the doc gave me Klonopin to counter/replace the Xanax. It's a odd feeling after being on something for so long and then not having the horrible Xanax side effects. I guess you can say it's surreal. But I think it's working. I am agoraphobic as well so we'll see how that works for me going to places. Oh and I really don't see how Klonopin makes you go to sleep...At all. I'm on Seroquel XR at bedtime and still can't go to sleep ( that med has not changed)??
