A group of European researchers has found that eating a Mediterranean diet decreases an individual’s risk of developing advanced macular degeneration by about 41% This diet provides an abundance of omega-3 fats acids, lutein and zeaxanthin. 

 

Furthermore eating a Mediterranean diet appears to have reduced the risk of developing early  macular degeneration.
