Sweet Dreams And Sleep Apnea: Sleeping Poses Tell On The Status Of Your Personal Relationships, But Do They Suggest This Slumber Disorder, Too?

By | October 24, 2016

Well, you may not believe this but our sleeping positions can tell so much about the type of persons that we are. Do sleeping poses indicate sleep apnea? These sleep poses probably don’t ascertain sleep apnea, but they do narrate something else.

On the face of it, the side sleeper who catches some Z’s with one knee bended is prissy. Romantic is the side sleeper resting on his or her one arm.

The way they rest also narrate something about the relationship of couples: beware of the spoon stance as it connotes one partner is controlling over the other; bodies that are interlaced is most common for newly weds (those insanely in love with each other!); and a breach in a relationship is expressed by slumbering far apart (maybe more worrisome than sleep apnea?).

How would one know if he or she has sleep apnea, then? Dissatisfied sleep, snorting, gasping or choking in nap, deafening snore and over-the-top sweating while sound asleep predict sleep apnea, among others. When awake, some other signals of sleep apnea may also be detected such as queasiness, mental confusion and/or dryness in the mouth. And sleep apnea need not be evident in sleep only, as insomnia and over-the-top day drowsiness are among its symptoms, too.

Now, if slumbering postures do not indicate sleep apnea, can one’s slumbering position cause it, as well? Again, the answer is “no.” No, sleeping stances do not seem to cause sleep apnea. Blockage of the respiratory tract by excess tissue makes one to suffer from sleep apnea. It may also be stimulated by colossal tonsils, a sizable tongue or a certain construction of the jaw.
